Mt. Santo Tomas Run with PSA members (sana)
I had a great opportunity of running with the Philippine Skyrunners Association to Mount Santo Tomas yesterday.
At 6am I went ahead (because I stay in Loakan) and walked from Camp7 to Camp6 while waiting for the PSA members who are Philippine Contingents to the Intl Skyrunning on October in Borneo.
They caught up with me on the road just before the Lions' at Kennon Road. When we arrived at the Camp5 Toll Gate, we were introduced and briefed by the team leader about the activity & also the planned exit. Being familiar with the trail and the community up there, I gave some input.
As I said in my opening, I had a great opportunity of running with the PSA members :-) ... I led the way up passing thru houses. And somebody along the way said we went thru the wrong trail. Being ahead, I became the last and had to follow the direction the old woman said. In fact she just led us thru houses with dogs. The trail I was leading the group leads to the same main trail towards the mountain and without dogs.
And then while we were going up, fortunately I was already with the Sweeper, Team Leader, I was starting to black out. I rested for a while but it is my first time to experience this, despite the warm up I already had. My body is already feeling the toll of lack of sleep. I am of course not in shape to go with the guys. So as not to delay and make the lives of runners’ miserable over a walker partner, I backed out.
After the Team Leader is assured that I can manage while we are still in a "safe" place, that he not worry I will not follow even when I get better and assuring him also that they will not get lost (there is no such thing as lost - only an opportunity to explore further), he rejoined the pack.
After resting for about 30 minutes, and tried to follow their trail leaving my backpack to asses myself a little bit more, I retraced my way back to the base of the mountain thru the original trail I wanted to go thru earlier. (it was quiet, no dogs to shoo)
My father met me at the station and gave me calcium powder as my recovery drink. He also dropped me to Burnham Park where I went to meet my business associates.
Afterwards I walked with my business associates (an accountant and a retired general, PMA schooled) I went to the vegetarian restaurant where I also met my yoga teacher and nutritionist. I was told that I lack so much enzymes etc etc. Afterwards I also joined a workshop with the MISSION.
Finally at about 1PM Mia and Jewel of the PSA members texted and said they are going down the mountain already, and Sonny Lamsis also texted that he dropped the PSA members in downtown already. I went to meet them at KFC and discussed with Glen Mundo about the Mount Kinabalu Climbathon.
I went along with the group where they booked in for the night at a private residence and rented out to transients, later resumed with my workshop and then another meeting with a previous boss.
Anyways, the Director of Tourism gave them her love, regretting not being able to meet them due to the arrival of her boss, our beloved President. There might be amongst you who would like to more about the climbathon and on how to join the event on October, kindly give me a private message, however I will be posting more options on www.bbosskinabalu.blogspot.com and www.bbossapo.blogspot.com . We want to finalize the schedule of an APO - KINABALU or vice versa trek based on the availability of your schedules and funds. We probably have to split the group in small groups.
