Santiago City
A lush plain at the northern gateway to Isabela announces the entry to Region 2's most vibrant, most talked-about, and most exciting premier city. At its southern entrance, a picturesque view of rice fields expanding against a burgeoning metropolitan backdrop of buildings and housing subdivisions greets the eye with a rousing welcome that sings again and again here at its eastern and western passages the rhapsodies of a booming economy: spouting commercial clusters, huge and imposing grain stations, and people happily going about the path to fulfillment.
Santiago City stands today as the major showcase and effective catalyst for change in Region 2. This present-day urban glory began to achieve prominence and was called El Pueblo de Carig in the 16th century while it wasbut a simple barrio in Camarag or Echague today. During the early period of Spanish conquest and christianization, this pueblo served as a strategic outpost from where was set forth all and every risky passage to Spanish missions, garrisons, and settlements that then lay upper-north in Cagayan Valley. In a short time, its bountiful and hospitable character revealed itself to those missionaries and soldiers, plantation owners and farmers, traders, civil government officials and clerks, and fortune-seekers from near and far regions who had the good fortune of seeing and knowing the place. Most of them fell so in love with the pueblo of three mountains and four rivers that they settled devotedly in.
For 397 years now, the City's commanding location has been serving as an advantageous means towards the attainment of religious, governmental, commercial, and settlement goals. With her new status as a city, this beautiful heiress to the venerable and exalted name of St. James, the Apostle-Warrior, promises to be hospitable more than she has ever been with her riches, opportunities, and pre-eminence to all her faithful inhabitants, so they can fulfill with her their destiny in community life all throughout the 21st century and beyond.
SCATEC (Santiago City Agro-Tourism and Ecology Center)
Unperturbed with the lack of natural tourist attractions, the City of Santiago has embarked on its determined goal of developing the Santigo City Agro-Tourism and Ecology Center as its flagship project area for TOURISM.
Being an ecology-friendly habitat quietly nestled within the rolling hills of Balintocatoc, covering an area of 209,199 sq. m, the site of the SCATEC was chosen as the most typical pilot area for this integrated project.
The city government has envisioned of showcasing a perfect package and world-class Ecology Park and Agro-tourism destination. It spells out a sustainable tourism development with its multi-tiered components, modern tourist amenities and facilities that lure both foriegn and local visitors.
Chapel of Transfiguration
It embraces a new age of millenium architecture with its modern distinctive and innovative design. Soon it will rise on top of the "Holy Hill" as a temple built for Jesus. It will be the home of common rituals, specila asses, communion, a perfect worship place for those who seek secluded place to pray and commune with God.
Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette
Standing majestically on top of the Holy Hill overlooking the grandeur of Santiago City with its vast green ricefields and built up areas, the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette symbolizes the Roman Catholic as the dominant religion in the City.
Strawberry Festival at La Trinidad, Benguet
Official Website of the Municipality of La Trinidad
In this rapidly-shifting age of computers, the advent of the Internet has effectively restructured all aspects of daily living, most notable of which is our mode of communication. Transfer of data and access to information could be completed in what is now known as "real time," downplaying the role of distance in the interaction equation. In order to harness this potential, the Municipal Government of La Trinidad set out to reformat the Municipality's official website.
Hence, www.latrinidad.gov.ph
We dedicate its rebirth to the 113, 713-strong citizenry from which blossom a fusion of multi-ethnicity uniquely our own. It forms part of our unwavering commitment to engage our people. And it is the voice of this uniqueness we want heard in our website. It is this same voice we want echoed in our plans, projects and in every decision we make.
www.latrinidad.gov.ph is a channel for public sentiment.
A well-informed citizenry easily translates into peaceful and prosperous communities. The provision of up-to-date and comprehensive information relative to their welfare and concerns – projects, the Municipality's financial situation, proposed and passed ordinances, among others – empowers the people. It enables them to actively and intelligently participate in their affairs, which is what the website encourages them to do.
www.latrinidad.gov.ph is a means to empower our people.
We are deeply committed to boosting our tourism industry by offering our hand in friendship and showcasing our wonderful landscapes, particularly our Strawberry Fields, Rose Gardens and four communal forests lush with the scent of pine and the greenest of grasses. Sustainability and concern for precious flora and fauna are the norms in the development of our forests into world-class eco-parks.
www.latrinidad.gov.ph is our window to the world.
Our website has expanded its contents and coverage, ranging from quarterly reports of the various offices to the latest weather updates. We have made its pages more vibrant and appealing to secure more widespread interest and attention. It is our sincere hope that public response from far and wide would be forthcoming. So that genuine people participation would find meaning in its pages.
We revived it with the welfare of the people in mind. We will sustain it propelled by the same thought.

Mayor
*** I have learned from Mayor Abalso himself that not only is he a mountain person, but is one of the pioneers in climbing the mountains such as Mount Pulag in the early 70's and 80's not only as a means of recreation but as a means to enlighten with the realities of life in the boondooks.... that is he has a lust for nature and lust for for peoples' welfare.***

Panagbenga Festival Accommodation Rates in Baguio City
Panagbenga Festival Accommodation Rates in Baguio skyrocketed to triple or quadruple for apartels and homestays otherwise known as Transient houses for the dates February 24 and 25, 2012 and Feb 17-19, 2012.
Most of the hotels did not follow the same practice of rising the rates although they still maintain a peak season rate and lean season rate.
Anyways, the following are still free to do in Baguio: walking in the parks, sidewalks, open spaces perhaps, breathe the air in Baguio City, window shopping, cool air outside subject to change when the wind says so, and staring :-)

Stolen Mobile Phones
My phones were stolen at a xerox copy shop at the Assumption Road about 30 minutes ago. I was fixing my papers for some moments. I left it on top of a shelf and probably forgot all about it and when I went back to ask after about 10 minutes, the shop owners told me they have not seen it.
The numbers are +639166599450 and +639287371208.
I will still process a replacement of both mobile numbers sim card.
Meantime, I am using +639268296875

Crossing the runway today was quite interesting. We had to wait for the small air plane that came from Manila (Sky Pasada) to land, and then a helicopter whereby the actor Ceasar Montano and his family were riding, and then when we thought we could cross over, an aviation school plane arrive. Worse is the first plane that arrived has to leave.
All in less than an hour :-)

Achievers Business Club @ Pine Breeze, Bokawkan - great for functions
Last Tuesday night, we were invited for an Achievers Business Club meeting and the venue is at the Pine Breeze Compound, Bokawkan Road. The place is great. We experienced the breeze from the pines. I wish that we can maintain the whole Baguio to be just like the place.
The meeting went great. We were reminded that only God gives grace, only God heals, only God can extend life. No matter how much money one makes, money cannot buy everything one person wants. Instead strengthen our hearts and our relationship with each other especially our creator. It was a great reminder. Because I myself experienced a great slump down due to health problems.
In the socialization, I won in the competition and got myself a gift certificate for a FREE MASSAGE from Asian Travelers Inn and Spa. I haven't used it yet but I saw the place and the masseurs seem to be friendly and they are accredited with many hotels in Baguio City.
We were invited by our sponsor, Ms. Aileen Cabjuan, she owns Gablets Catering Services and Restaurant @ the Upper Session Road, Baguio City. We had dinner on Wednesday at Gablets and loved the 99ers whereby meat, vegetables, juice and soup are packed as rice toppings. All tasted great, from the soup to the fruit juice. It tasted like the chef loves what he is doing.
The meeting is great, we truly enjoyed the meeting and intend to attend some more of it.

Mount Pulag Tour during a November Rains
While Baguio City and its neighboring towns are experiencing less than slight rains and occasional thunderstorms, Mount Pulag has a different story of exciting wind & fog all around :-)
Camping at the Saddle Camp is different for us and the guides perhaps we can safely say, the first time in the history of Saddle Camp. We had to set up camp inside the emergency hut! And the whole evening, I was wondering if the emergency shelter will be blown away by the raging wind.
Due to wind, and the wet feeling, I did not dare bring out the camera anymore.
However, the following are the inspiring words Mr. G should people feel sorry about us not seeing the sunrise, "have you seen the fog?".

Basic Rappelling & Retrieval Equipment
Vehicle Retrieval incident between Tinoc and Buguias
On my way from Tinoc towards Buguias, we had to stop on the road to wait for a retrieval operation to finish.
I dropped by the Buguias Fire Station to chat, and I mentioned having encountered the incident. They were not informed so they could be dispatched and help out.

Basics on Mountaineering Courses useful for Disaster & Rescuing
The municipality of Tinoc, Ifugao were very happy to have received trainings and instructions on Basics on Ropes Courses on November 3&4, 2011.
Led by the Head of the Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Council Ms. Rosemarie Carino and wth the blessing given by the Municipal Council and its Mayor, we were able to bring to them the seemingly purely recreational skills.
More trainings are being prepared for the municipaity to avail.
